Varnette Honeywood, the artist whose work donned the home of the Huxtables in the Cosby Show, has died.

Honeywood, 59, died Sunday at a Los Angeles hospital after a two-year battle with cancer one of her cousins, Jennell Allen, said Tuesday.

The artist garnered the attention of Cosby in the 1970s after her bold acrylic paintings were transferred to greeting cards.

Cosby and wife Camille were avid collectors of Honeywood’s work and met the artist soon after.

Speaking on the late artist, Cosby described her saying,

“Those colors … she was absolutely brilliant…Forms and attitudes in human beings, she was able to capture them.”
