Lupe Fiasco Calls Out Atlantic Records [Video]

This past weekend, Atlantic recording artist Lupe Fiasco gave the keynote address at The Second Regional Academic and Cultural Collaborative in Dayton, OH.

During his speech, the rapper put his label on front street, speaking on the mechanics of the bogus record deal he was being offered and giving reason for the hold up of his album.

The backpacker told scholars,

“The truth of the matter is, I'm at the mercy of the powers that be. [Atlantic] don't know if the want to be a record company, or a management company or if they want to be a production company. And I'm caught up in the midst.”

As previously reported, on October 15 a group of Fiasco's fans plans to protest in an attempt to speed up the release of Lupe's Lasers album.

This follows an online petition that has reached over 30,000 signatures calling for the release of the rappers third LP.

The event dubbed "Fiasco Friday" calls for supporters to bring picket signs and protest in front of Atlantic Records' headquarters.

Fans outside of New York are encouraged to protest in front of local Atlantic branches as well as spread the word via Twitter, Facebook and other social networking platforms.

Lupe himself, said he is down to ride with his fans via Twitter, tweeting,

#FiascoFriday Huh?!?..well if yall there…I guess I gotta be there too! Ha! Leggo!”
