Rapper turned reality star MC Hammer is lending his voice to help an Oakland family who lost their father to cancer and now faces losing their home.

According to published reports, MC Hammer will be honored at the “World Wide Humanitarian Awards” during a Kick-A-Thon to help raise the profile of a fundraising event for the Platt family.

The California family is facing foreclosure after Florence Platt’s 38-year-old husband John died on September 15th from cancer.

To lend support for Florence and her two children, ten bay area Taekwondo schools and the MountainView Christian Center will host the Kick-A-Thon, where students from each school will throw as many kicks as possible during the two minute time.

Based on the number of kicks, financial donors will then donate money to benefit the family.

The Kick-A-Thon For Humanity will be held on October 16th at the Mountain View Christian Center at 5000 Amaryllis St., in Oakley, California.
