Black Man Dragged By Cab Driver After Asking To Go To Brooklyn

A man in New York City is hoping that his story will help shed light on the problems that African Americans face when trying to do the simple task of hailing a cab.

According to published reports, 23-year-old Jerrell Horton was dragged more than a block after flagging down a cab to get to his home in Brooklyn, New York.

The college graduate told the press that after waiting for 45 minutes a cab driver pulled over to pick him up.

After asking the cabbie to take him to Brooklyn, the cab driver sped off while Horton  was getting in the car causing the door to close on his jacket.

Unable to escape, Horton was drug more than a block before loosening himself free. The man suffered minor injuries, but lost his wallet, glasses, keys and cell phone during the incident.

"I was getting in when he hit the gas and my jacket got caught in the door," Horton told The Daily News. "I was screaming at him to stop, but he would not stop. I struggled and struggled until I finally pulled free."


Horton, who works for a financial services company, states that although he suffered minor injuries, he did not call police because he was not seriously injured and was unable to get the license plate of the runaway cab.

 

"This is racial profiling and it's sickening." Horton continued. "It's ridiculous trying to find a cab that will take you where you want to go if you're a black man."

Make a police report not a damn blog, and ever time something happens and you feel justice was not served make a paper trail.

The next comment is for you too Blacks are not the only ppl walking around in sagging pants, over size colorful shirts and gym shoes you have tunnel vision. We are not the only culture who have drug dealers, gangs and complain and don't do anything you are definitely stupid, because you stereotyped yourself. Two piece yourself !!!

@Strait Blak , You sound like a sellout .(if your black) Every blackman that wear sagging pants ,big tee's & gym shoes are not gangbangers, drug dealers . I Love My skin & wont tap dance , just to make non-black ppl or black ppl feel safe. Do you know that if a black man put on a suit & tie ; most non-blacks will still call you a the N-word anyway. You sound like you date non-black ppl anyway.

incorrect you are, the fact is that this man's civil rights were
violated simply because of his color, not due to a hip-hop
fashion statement. Racism is alive and thriving in the United
Snakes of America and these cracker's ain't playin, they are
mad as Hell because a Black man is President of this country
and because they can't reach out at him, You are their target
my friend, we all as people of color need to become aware of
what's goin down in this country get behind our President and
support him and realize that the struggle for equality in this
country is still being fought. As usual, we're too busy worrying
about nonsense such as Hip-Hop buffoonry, diamond studded
grills, big b**ty bi**hes or intermarrying with races that don't
give a damm about us or our struggle as a community.
