An author has decided to sue Oprah Winfrey for allegedly plagiarizing a political booklet he says he sent to her two years ago.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Charles Harris claims he sent 10 copies of the booklet, How America Elects Her Presidents, to The Oprah Winfrey Show in an attempt to have Winfrey promote it on the program.
He says he didn’t hear back from the show prior to a February 2009 episode in which he claims Winfrey plagiarized him by reading questions contained in the booklet.
Harris claims that “the language and structure of the questions were exactly the same” and added that Oprah “was also highly praising of the information contained in the booklet.”
Harris’ lawsuit, filed Tuesday in Pennsylvania, seeks up $150,000 in damages per unlawful use.
