Jay-Z Has Words For Former President Bush Over Kanye West Episode

Jay-Z Blasts President Bush Over Kanye West's Katrina Comments

George Bush Jr. may have gotten Kanye West to say sorry, but if the former president of the United Stated is looking for the former president of Def Jam to throw him a pity party, he might not want to hold his breath.

In a recent interview with the Associated Press regarding his book Decoded, Jay-Z made it clear that he totally agrees with Kanye's original sentiment that, ‘George Bush doesn't care about black people', saying,

"I 100 percent agreed with the comments that he made, because again ... it felt like it was being done to Black people," Jay-Z tells the AP. "Like all you saw on the news was Black people with help signs and all this stuff, and then you have this picture of the commander in chief, who we all rely on, just flying by."

Kanye West recently backed away from the comments, after George Bush Jr. categorized the statement as the lowest point of his eight-year presidency in his new book, Decision Points.

Jay- Z says that if Bush Jr. thinks West's statement was the lowest of the lows then he has his priorities wrong,

"Just the fact that he thinks that the worst thing that happened to him is Kanye saying something about him. Like, what? That alone shows you where his mind is. Are you kidding me?" says Jay-Z .

Though he said nothing when the incident happened, Bush Jr. finally replied to West's infamous remarks earlier this year during a promotional tour for his memoirs, Decision Points, which hit shelves November 9.

‘Ye later back down from his post Katrina statement saying, "I didn't have the grounds to call him a racist."

Ye's retraction caused a stir to many in the hip-hop community who felt that West should have stuck by his initial statements about the former president, including Pusha T and Ed Lover.

Ye is all over the place, he does not know what he stands for other than getting attention. I AM JUST SAYING.

  • Rob

There is a serious difference between Bush saying that the comment was "one of the most disgusting moments" in his presidency, and misquoting that as "the lowest point." Kanye even defended the former president in that regard.

Plus, the media's representation of the incident isn't reflective on Bush at all. If all they were showing were the black citizens, then that is a problem with the journalist and reporter. Considering Jay-Z is an entertainer in his own right, he should be considerably more receptive as to how the media manipulates the public and creates its own truth to tell a story.

  • The Capitalist

Please this comin' from Jay-Z "black car, black rims, black card, black everything"... the black supremacist race-baiter. More black people were affected cuz more black people live in New Orleans... Bush did not go out of his way to single out a race. Kinda like how the BP oil spill affected the same area... so Obama must not care about black people either, huh? And I don't even like Bush but criticize him for real stuff like the wars. This race-card playin' BS has grown tiresome.

  • truth

bush doesnt care about black people. 70% of white america hates blacks.

    • ???

jay is the truth, bush never cared about black people,as a governer he sentence to death the most black people in history.

  • belly

    I RESPECT JAY-Z FOR THIS !

  • belly

BLACK PEOPLE IN THE US STILL FIGHT FOR EQUALITY. SOME PEOPLE DONT WANNA HEAR THE TRUTH.

  • errtin black

if you don't know how it feels to be black..than please shut the hell up. and don't try to tell us wat we can or can't NOT do...

  • Chocolate

Regardless if Bush doesn't care abour black or not. The fact he said that was his lowest point in his presidency is SICKING! 911, the dead people and babies in the street dying after Katrina hit and Bush doing nothing quick wasn't his worst moment? MY LORD! REALLY?

  • WhoUFeelin

This beef is really unessecary, can we focus on how to remain relevant as voters. Rob you have a point but the fact is the majority of people in distress in New Orleans were black and thier pliot to get help was ignored until the media got involved to bring it to the forefront of every American TV viewer. Lets rephrase, " We dont care about you if you are not trying to live some place other than the projects, comitting crimes, dropping out of highschool, having children for someone else to raise, disrespecting the elderly" those type of people exsit in every race unfortuantly the stigma is *****ociated to only a certain few. Thankfully, you and I can strive to be better than a stigma.

  • herudagod

Ok but jay z u had money and resources what did u do to help?

  • And the decline in America continues

Some Americans are so stupid. The world sees some of you trying to re-write President Bush's legacy while all the other world leaders who helped contribute to his nonsense are pretty much hated by the majority of people in their lands. People in this country can keep on playing these games if they want, its not going to be too funny when China gets fed up and comes calling to cash in on that debt. Unfortounatly for this country the world is not as forgetful and forgiving as people in this nation tend to be for themselves...all hell is going to break lose if people in this country dont stop playing sill games.

First bush said kanye's statement was "one" of the lowest moments in his presidency. Its not what jay z and the media are making it out to be. Even kanye knew they took bush's remarks out of context, and just wanted to have this war of words between kanye(his friends) and bush. I don't understand why bush should be the go to guy for a "natural calamity disaster". Why don't they target the governor of N.O and shouldn't those people first and foremost aid their own community in any situations. The blacks complain about when this sort of thing happens, but they don't do a thorough check on the tsunami aid the president and the country provided and also what clinton and bush sr. did to aid those countries. They should ask their own state government for the answers, its not that N.O is as devastating as african and 3rd world countries. They can get aid from their fellow citizens in their own country itself( not just from superman bush flying over) in matter of months and reconstruction is highly possible. There are other countries who have it worse than N.O and they aren't even affected by a natural calamity, they are only affected by simple things like lack of food and clean water. Indonesia needed the whole world to provide for them, their instable government is not going to do anything for them. Atleast N.O has more than what a whole 3rd world country has and can get aid from celebrities to common folks in the U.S.

Why do black celebrities need to jump on a bandwagon and pay attention to what bush said. I don't see jay z checking on N.O to see if the blacks are doing good. I am from south africa and i am black and i can easily say that "african" americans don't give a damn about real africans. They are just americans, only thing they are black big deal. Move on and next time target the United Abominations instead of bush, am sure they can do alot more.

  • gotflava1

Really? Bush doesnt care about black people? Oh how we forget the aid he sent to AIDS stricken Africa helping thousands of Africans. He has done more to help black people than Obama. Whats the unemployment rate amongst black males in this country right now? Yeah thats what I thought. This coming from a guy that wears a Che Guevara, a murdering communist. Let me say this, Jay-Z needs to keep his pie hole shut and stick to making gangsta rap and stay the hell out of politics.

  • Keyshawn

Really? Bush doesnt care about black people? Oh how we forget the aid he sent to AIDS stricken Africa helping thousands of Africans. He has done more to help black people than Obama. Whats the unemployment rate amongst black males in this country right now?---Are you serious? Bush can help thousands of Africans in Africa but did virtually nothing for the US citizens in New Orleans!?! Who twisted his arm to give aid to the AIDS victims in Africa??? And, are you really going to put the unemployment rate of Black males on Obama!?! He's been in office two years and it's his fault!?! As if the 8 previous years under Bush, and his "fake" reasons for getting us into the "war", had nothing to do with it!?!

  • http://bossip Gat Turner BUDDDDDDAATTT!!!
