A Pennsylvania teen has been charged with murder after confessing to the police that he killed his mother and dumped her body behind their south Philadelphia home.
Kendall Anderson, 16, has been charged as an adult in the death of 37-year-old Rashida Anderson who police say he bludgeoned to death with a hammer and piece of wooden furniture.
Police say that Anderson murdered his mother and disposed of the body in an alley behind the house they shared by dumping a dresser on top of the corpse.
He then called the police to report her missing.
After other family members suspected foul play and notified police, authorities searched the home and found a trail of blood leading to the body.
Anderson later confessed to the crimes.
Anderson has no violent criminal record, though records show he was arrested charged with theft of a laptop from his school.
He is now charged with murder, abuse of a corpse and related crimes.
Police have not released a motive for the killing.
