White Supremacists Oppose Idris Elba’s Role In The Movie “Thor”

A white supremacist group is taking action against Idris Elba and the producers of the upcoming movie “Thor” because the English actor has been cast to play the role of a Nordic character.

Elba, who is of African descent, will play the deity Heimdall, an all-seeing and all-knowing guardian, in the Marvel Studios feature.

According to the Council of Conservative Citizens, Elba’s casting is an example of “leftwing social engineering.”

The group has started the website, boycott-thor.com in retaliation where they denounce Marvel Comics and Elba saying,

It’s well known that Marvel is a company that advocates for left-wing ideologies and causes. Marvel front man Stan “Lee” Lieber boasts of being a major financier of left-wing political candidates. Marvel has viciously attacked the TEA Party movement, conservatives, and European heritage. Now they have taken it one further, casting a black man as a Norse deity in their new movie Thor. Marvel has now inserted social engineering into European mythology.”

Elba previously spoke on the controversy, telling TV Times,

There has been a big debate about it: can a black man play a Nordic character? Hang about, Thor’s mythical, right? Thor has a hammer that flies to him when he clicks his fingers. That’s OK, but the colour of my skin is wrong?”

The Council of Conservative Citizens also opposes interracial marriage and gay rights.

Ok now Im really starting to believe it’s only cause your BLACK ………..

  • BritishGirl

I wonder if they’re making the same amount of fuss with Angelina Jolie playing Cleopatra…

  • TCC must stand for “Tired Clueless Characters” if they really think anyone will understand their POV on this. For crying out loud, they oppose interracial marriage and gay rights! They want everyone to live in a world where “White is Right” it seems. That time has BEEN over, so GET OVER IT TCC!!

  • *Scrap that TCC bit; I meant CCC stands for “Clueless Cretinous Characters”.

  • Deborah

It’s nearly 2011!!!! Are there any real issues to deal with? I don’t know like: World Hunger, Child Abuse, Global Warming. Can we get past the race thing now?

  • kokoclark

Cleopatra was not black. If Angelina plays Queen Sheba then we need to be upset. Furthermore if black people had a mythical character that was being portrayed as white, we would want blood. Even though I don’t agree with their racist views, they’re right to be ticked off….. For instance…. Shaft, starring Bradley Cooper.

    • decaturATL404

uhm…ryan reynolds is playing green lantern…now we all know green lantern has been black until “recently” now that they want to make a movie for him =/

    • Mr Fantastic

Know your history sister Cleopatra was indeed black!

I agree, I’m a purist when it comes to comics. No RACIAL/ In this case the fact that they cast a black person or any color to play a mythical Character who is always portrayed as being white is not only dumb it’s also pretty strange. I would feel pretty heated if they cast a white man as the next Shaka.

  • HoneyNight

Cleopatra was in fact of African Blood (not fully) but science has proven that her sister (who she had killed) had African blood so it stand to reason………..

  • The Cynic

I read that BBC article a while back and all it stated was that anthropologist determined Cleopatra’s SISTER was part African. Not Cleo herself. Of course according to historical accounts Arsinoe was her blood sister, however we don’t know if that is for sure a fact.

Anyways, I think these guys are simply racist, but I will admit that if the shoe was on the other fit black folks would be giving hell if a white actor played a black character. In the end these guys are not comic book purist. This is obviously just an attempt to make white ppl look like victims(sigh.. BS!!!).

  • ash

You people seem to miss the fact that this character is mythological. He could look like anything that the producers see fit. White ppl are a trip.

Norse mythology evolves around the gods that the ancient anglo people worshipped. I dont see a problem with a black Heimdall per say, as long as yall dont have a problem with Jim Carrey playing “Shaft”. Both fictional, ethnocentric characters, cast by someone who doesn’t really care about authenticity or adherence to “tradition”. Now, about black Jesus…

  • I love you Elbaaaaaaaa 🙂

  • pai

    @ British Girl
Thank you, did’nt know Angelina Jolie was playing the role of Cleopatra, but I was thinking about when Elizabeth Taylor played the role, not to mention all the Native American roles that have been played by white people. Now, it’s a problem that a black man plays this character.

  • yoboogie

Because Cleopatra was black and had the power to control as many powerful men as she did, created this level of discouragement and displacement of black women. They know if a black woman feels powerful then she is the most confident woman on the face of the earth. Believe That!

by the way, know that all the “greek gods” are the same “gods” the egyptians worshipped thousands of years prior; just with different names. now go read that.

  • Kino

The original Green Lantern (from Earth) was Hal Jordan, and he was white. But we all know John Stewart’s the people’s champ.

Also, Kyle Rayner is white, but Mexican-American (yeah, you can do that). His dad is Gabriel Vasquez, a CIA agent who used the fake name Rayner.

  • Peppa

@kokoclark you are obviously one of those dumb a$$es who try to take black away from anything that is seen to be beautiful. Cleopatra was black. Only an idiot would try to prove different. Angelina Joilee will have to darken her skin to play this role, especially if it is to come across believable. As far as any Greek Mythology is concerned I. E. Thor, a black man playing any of those roles is not a stretch.

  • Mike Kappele

I am a ASATRU Minister, Having A black man play one of our Gods is Wrong, its not racial, but one of Religon. It would be like Brad Pitt playin MLK, its easy to sling white supremecy crap, or the racial card, but what would u christians do if, lets say Moses was played by a person of chinese desent???

  • Mike Kappele

Well jaroskee, I am indeed a LEGAL Ordain Minister, am sorry if your xitian bigotry stops u from accepting other faiths and ways, sorry my gods and goddess are VERY much Real, saddly there older than ur so mighty one god, but then again, i will admitt he real, just as real as mine, and all ur holy days were once and still are mine, are u really that much of a Bigoted????? My God IS ODIN, and His Wife Figga, and his Son Thor, Balder and Yes Loki too, this path is also called Forn Si r (Ancient way),

Also my Faith is one of the many ok by the US military, and Were Fully protected by the 1st adment.

  • fourlegs

seems people assume that because the Norse people were white that their gods were as well…yet none of the old tales reveal anything about their ethnicity…same as the christian god, he could be white, black, asian etr…more likely they are all none of the above since they aren’t human.

    • Mike Kappele

Sorry Fourlegs, but the Gods and Goddess of the Norse People are very White, and Christian holy man was of JEWISH ARAB descent, and ur bigotry of anothers Faith is clear, My faith is what they::: Throughout Scandinavia the religion is called Forn Si’r (which means the Ancient way or tradition), and is far older that the Chistian god, who is only from 325ad, unless ur willing to call him the same god of jews and muslims

  • fourlegs

No bigotry here, only fact. Written Norse mythology tales do not give any reference to the possible ethnicity of the deities, this is a known fact. The idea that they are white is an assumption by the reader based on the fact that the creators of the religion were white. This omission leads to allowance for artistic license.

And the christian god I am referring to was not Jesus Christ, but his ‘father’ who is also the Jewish god and arguably, much as christians would hate to admit it at this point in time, the same god as the Islamic faith. And neither the Bible, Torah, or Koran ever give him an ethnicity.
