Lawsuit claims promoter owes Nelly for Branson concert

The Flush Touring Company, which handles Nelly's road performances is suing promoter Paul Dunn, claiming that he owes the St. Louis rapper $37,500 for his show last August at the Mansion Theatre in Branson, Missouri.

The original oral agreement between the two sides slated for Nelly to receive $75,000.

That same agreement included the venue as the parking lot at the Grand Palace Theater.

Branson officials refused the permit for the parking lot show because of concerns about security, noise and safety for audience members. Once the venue changed, Dunn states that the price was also altered, and $40,000 became the agreed fee for the show.

According to the Saint Louis-Dispatch, Dunn claims Nelly's manager, Abby Cole began to threaten him after the performance. He and two men followed him to a hotel and restaurant and blocked his car with their vehicle.

"He kept telling me how I was going to get my (expletive) kicked. I wrote him a check just to get those guys out of there," said the promoter.

Mr. Dunn stopped payment on the check the next day and filed a report about the alleged assault with Branson police on August 23rd, 2010.

Nelly's business manager Mike Chaffin finds it funny that Paul Dunn is talking with the press once he knew a lawsuit was being filed.

Chaffin knew nothing of an altercation but he remarks, "What I know is his check bounced like a basketball."

Maybe Paul feels like the former chart-topper isn't worth $75,000 anymore.

The decision is in the court's hands.
