Boy Sells Kidney For Ipad
A teen in China is making headlines worldwide after selling his kidney to buy an Apple Ipad 2.
According to The Shanghai Daily, the boy, 17-year-old Zheng from Huaishan City, couldn’t afford an Ipad and got the idea to sell his bodily organ from an online broker.
The broker reportedly told the boy that he could get 22,000 Yuan nearly $3,400 US dollars for his kidney.
“I wanted to buy an iPad 2 but could not afford it,” said Zheng “A broker contacted me on the Internet and said he could help me sell one kidney for 20,000 yuan.”
The boy reportedly had the surgery April 28 in Chenzou City after the broker arranged it without the permission of his parents.
When Zhang’s mother found out, she alerted authorities and an investigation is said to be ongoing.
The broker has yet to be arrested.
