President Obama Sings Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” At The Apollo [Video]

Last night (January 19), President Obama was at Harlem’s famed Apollo Theater for a fundraiser and decided to flex his vocal chords in song. After taking to the stage and thanking some of the night’s performers, including Al Green, Obama started singing the R&B soul singer’s tune “Let’s Stay Together.”

“I’m…so in love with you…,” sung the President of the United States to wild cheers.

“Those guys didn’t think I would do it. I told you I was going to do it,” Obama said, before adding, “The Sandman did not come out. Now don’t worry, Rev, I cannot sing like you, but I just wanted to show my appreciation.”

The Apollo fundraiser (tickets were $200 a piece) was hosted by Tony Award-winning composer and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda and featured performances by Green and India.Arie, who Obama noted as one of his “favorites.” It was a busy night for Obama who made four campaign stops, including one at Spike Lee’s home, where he received a custom pair of Air Jordan Spizikes from the director.

FOX News is no doubt thinking of way to blame Al Green’s music for the downturn in the economy right now.
