Maino Raps About Relationship With Lil' Kim On "I Still Love You"
What's a brokenhearted thug to do when his queen has left him out to dry? Let the song cry. That's what Maino has done this morning in a song off of his upcoming DJ Green Lantern assisted mixtape I Am Who I Am: The Album Before The Album, dropping Thursday, January 26.
Though not naming her directly, the song “I Still Love You” chronicles the turbulent road he and Lil Kim's relationship experienced during her year and one day prison stint in 2005. “I rolled with you straight to the jail that's how I do/Kites to the joint expressing how much I love you/Still a queen even in greens,” rhymes Maino.
The Brooklyn rapper admits the relationship went sour when the two couldn't work out their differences soon after Kim's release from prison. He rhymes, “Fighting and we arguing Shyte we never used to do/We don't even speak no more/yYu was claiming I was using you I still love you though.”
I Am Who I Am will be released January 26 in preparation for his second studio album, The Day After Tomorrow, hitting stores February 28th after suffering a series of album delays.
