Since he is a member of Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group, Stalley inevitably gets asked questions pertaining to Rozay and company. But before the Bawse heard Lincoln Way Nights and recruited the Ohio rapper to MMG, Stalley was plugging away independently and gleaming knowledge from heads like Roc-a-Fella co-founder Dame Dash and fellow rhyme spitter Curren$y.

“That’s when it really started picking up, with that whole movement,” Stalley told Hip-Hop Wired of linking up with Dame Dash and DD172 in the early part of his career. “That was a blessing, just to be around those guys and soak up game.”

Curren$y, who ironically is in a legal tangle with Dash, appears on Stalley’s just released Savage Journey to the American Dream on a track called “Hammers and Vogues.” Watch Stalley speak on his early career and having to think about joining MMG in the video below.
