Wired 25: The 25 Most Important People In Hip-Hop Under 25
Earl Sweatshirt: 18 (February 24, 1994)
Tyler, The Creator is the leader of Odd Future, but it was Earl Sweatshirt's “EARL,” video that initially put the crew on the map. After a short hiatus in boarding school, Earl returned this year and put their fanbase on its ear with an album-stealing verse on OF's posse cut, “Oldie.” The talented young lyricist might be socially awkward, but those bars are nothing to play with. His return to the stage in New York City grabbed headlines in the New York Times and he has been hard at work in the studio to make new music for his cult-like stans to eat up.
