On the intro to Ghostface Killah’s (happy born day, sir) third album, Bulletproof Wallets, Raekwon’s voice is actually heard first saying, “What I tell you about wearing the wrong New Balance, man?”

The Chef was right. There are certain New Balance you should stay clear of if you are rocking them strictly for fashion purposes instead of say running a marathon. However, a few models out now or dropping soon that Rae would surely approve of include the Ronnie Fieg designed 999 “Steel Blue” (itself a homage to the 1984 New Balance 1300CL) as well as 998s and 1300s in an ill “Blue Denim” colorway.

The 1300s will set you back $140 and the 998s will run you $130 and are both available at KITH. As for the 999s, they will be available to the first 50 people that line up for them at its SoHo and Brooklyn locations, on June 15th. Check out the photos in the gallery and if you’re looking to get a pair, good look.
