A New Jersey man has filed a $1 million lawsuit against Wal-Mart for alleged racism. Donnell Battie claims to have been traumatized after hearing racist comments over the loud speaker at a  Washington Township location, in 2010. According to Battie, a Wal-Mart employee used the store intercom to request  that all black people leave the establishment. As such, Battie is accusing the store of being negligent in failing to control their speaker system. In the years following the incident, Battie says that he has suffered  “severe and disabling emotional and psychological harm.”

A spokesperson  for Wal-Mart apologized for the occurrence , but the company is known for running into legal problems. In 2010, they faced a billion dollar gender bias class-action suit, and late last year a mother and her pregnant daughter were arrested for attacking an elderly Wal-Mart greeter, inside the store.
