Exclusive: French Montana Talks Growing Up In Morocco [VIDEO]

Before he was a “coke boy,” French Montana grew up in the North African country of Morocco. Born, Karim Kharbouch, Montana emigrated to the Bronx, with his family in 1996. In the years since, the rapper has been heavy on his grind flooding the streets with material, all of which garnered him a healthy amount of buzz, and a record deal with Bad Boy.

“It’s just a hustle and getting adapted to the lifestyle,” he told Hip-Hop Wired of the differences in African and American cultures. “I feel like the lifestyle is a little different but the hustle is still the same.” Now that he’s officially part of Diddy’s team, Montana is prepping the release of his Excuse My French debut, and dropped the remix to  his “Everything’s A Go” single last week.

The summer will find the 27-year-old promoting his music via a spot on Drake’s Club Paradise tour, a solo run overseas, and hitting the stage at Hot 97′s Summer Jam.
