Once Again, Geraldo Rivera Says Trayvon Martin's “Thug Wear” Led To Shooting [VIDEO]
Geraldo Rivera is still spewing racists hatred over the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. The Fox News personality appeared on Bill O'Reailly's show Friday (May 18) where he once again took aim at the unarmed teen's clothing, remarking that he donned “thug wear,” on the night of his murder.
Rivera was on the show to discuss new developments in the case which include nearly 200 pages of evidence released to the public, which included autopsy details and surveillance video of Martin moments before his altercation with George Zimmerman. According to Rivera, traces of THC found in the 17-year-old's blood stream are far less damaging to the pending murder case, than his clothing. “I think what's far more significant is what Trayvon Martin looked like on that night, Bill,” he said. “Aside from the fact that he's dressed in that thug wear — look at the size of him, he's not a little kid.
“If this young man was a stranger to George Zimmerman, Trayvon Martin looks just like the people who had been burglarizing and victimizing that neighborhood for the last six months.” Surprisingly, O'Reilly called Rivera out for being discriminatory against the high-schooler based on his clothing, to which he replied “Profiling is based on a reasonable comparison.”
Clearly Rivera didn't refer to police reports taken after the shooting in which an officer noted that Martin had every right to be in the neighborhood, and that Zimmerman could have avoided the altercation by simply staying in his car.
Of course this isn't the first time that Rivera has put his ignorance on display in regards to the Martin case. He previously stated that the teen's hoodie got him killed, before apologizing for his comments.
