VH1’s ‘Rock Docs’ franchise is taking a look back at MTV’s groundbreaking Hip-Hop show, Yo! MTV Raps. The documentary titled Yo: The Story of Yo! MTV Raps premieres Thursday, June 7 at 10pm on VH1.

The hour long special will take a look at the show’s seven year run, it debuted on August 6, 1988, via archival footage and interviews with past guests , including former show hosts Dr. Dre, Ed Lover and Fab 5 Freddy (who is a consulting producer). 

Check out the preview clip below that takes a look back at Tupac’s infamous appearance on the show where he recounted beating up Menace II Society film directors the Hughes Brothers. Turns out Pac’s words were most definitely used against him in the court of law.
