Chief Keef Signs Interscope Records Deal That Includes Movies & Beats By Dre Headphone Line [VIDEO]
After months of speculation of where the newcomer was going to land, Chief Keef finally announces a deal with Interscope Records. The Chicago rappers tells MTV RapFix that he ultimately signed with the Jimmy Iovine led label because of their proven track record with 50 Cent and Eminem. The recording contract also includes a publishing deal with Dr. Dre, assuring the teenage MC the benefit of a veteran voice in his career.
Since rapidly coming onto the scene with the hit “I Don’t Like,” Chief Keef has enjoyed runaway fame and success, reaching it’s zenith with Kanye West remixing the teen’s hit, drawing Hip-Hops ever fickle spotlight, if not for a brief moment. Fake Shore Drive reports that as part of the deal, which is alleged to be in the millions, Keef gets his own GBE Records imprint. Also, he gets a movie deal, a biopic is already in the works, and a line of Beats By Dre headphones called “Beats By Keef.” [UPDATE: Karen Civil, who works for Beats By Dre, refutes any such headphone deal.]
Do you think Chief Keef has a long career ahead of him?
