President Obama Responds To Health Care Ruling [VIDEO]
President Obama praised the Supreme Court's ruling on his controversial healthcare reform law, Thursday (June 28). The 5-4 vote, marked a narrow victory for the POTUS, but a win nonetheless. “Today's decision was a victory for people all over this country whose lives are more secure because of this law,” he said in a televised statement from the White House .
In spite of the decision handed down by the nation's highest court, Republicans are already planning a method of attack. “Today's ruling underscores the urgency of repealing this harmful law in its entirety,” said House Speaker John A. Boehner. “Republicans stand ready to work with a president who will listen to the people and will not repeat the mistakes that gave our country Obamacare.”
On the contrary, Democrats expressed their content with the decision. “Passing the Affordable Care Act was the greatest single step in generations toward ensuring access to affordable, quality healthcare for every person in America, regardless of where they live, how much money they make,” noted Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid. “I'm happy and I'm pleased the Supreme Court put the rule of law ahead of partisanship.”
Mitt Romney also had an adverse reaction to the news, and took to Twitter to reiterate his views. “If we want to get rid of Obamacare, we're going to have to replace @BarackObamahttp://mi.tt/LRkjqe #FullRepeal” he wrote.
The week has been a tough one for Romney, as the Supreme Court also sided with Obama on a good portion of the issues surrounding immigration laws.
