8 More Highly Anticipated Hip-Hop Moments (That Will Probably Never Happen)
The Return Of Conscious Rap To The Mainstream
Remember when songs with a positive message like “Self Destruction,” “Fight The Power,” and “Dear Momma” got regular spins on television and radio. Unless you are in your late 20s or older, you probably don't. The only messages from black music that are allowed in the mainstream media today are, Azz, S-x, Drugs, Kill, Party, Shoot, Coke, Twerk, Thug, Gangster. With the profits that mainstream outlets are making off this formula, and the growing sect of rap artists unwilling to educate our youth on anything other than smoking loud and disrespecting women, don't count on things to change anytime soon.
