Rumors of Remy Ma's death were clearly highly exaggerated. The former Terror Squad rapper called into Funkmaster Flex last night (July 16th) to confirm that she was still alive despite Internet chatter that she had been stabbed to death in prison.
"I don't know. People are crazy. I was like trending worldwide, maybe we can let this thing rock for a little minute," said Remy, laughing off her premature demise at the hands of Twitter. "People have nothing to do with their lives sometimes so they just say things and then it gets out of control and other people say it, I don't know. I just know they were looking for me crazy all throughout the prison."
The Bronx rapper, born Reminisce Smith, also revealed that she was currently incarcerated about 45 minutes from her native borough (likely the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women) and is on schedule to be released in another 22 months. In 2008, Remy was sentenced to an eight-year prison term for shooting Makeda Barnes-Joseph in a dispute over what was though to be stolen money in 2007.
Remy is married to the self-proclaimed King of New York, rapper Papoose. "Just left my wife on the visit 2day @ 330 she was and still is fine yall haters need 2 get a life
@freeremyma," tweeted the the Brooklyn rapper yesterday. Remy Ma also called into Hot 97's morning show with Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg this morning (July 17th).
