The day after dropping off the second single “Birthday Song,“ 2 Chainz chops it up with MTV and previews his new album, Based On A T.R.U. Story. Set to hit stores on August 14th, Tity Boi has been on a strategic rise since dropping Codeine Cowboy, which turned meteoric after droppin T.R.U. REALigion.
He’s appeared on a bevy of high profile features including G.O.O.D. Music‘s “Mercy,” Nicki Minaj‘s “Beez In Da Trap,” and Justin Bieber‘s “Boyfriend” remix. “Based on a T.R.U. Story can be the soundtrack for maybe what LeBron [James] went through,” Chainz says about his album. “Being in a situation, thinking you’re gonna be in a situation, striving in that situation, struggling in that situation, having faith like, ‘Let me try this again, but just do it a different way’ … and then getting good results. I feel like it’s a soundtrack for a championship team, a soundtrack for somebody that’s winning or goin’ through ups and downs.”
