Kile Glover has been laid to rest, and his mother, Tameka Raymond, has broken her silence. The 11-year-old’s funeral was held Friday (July 27) morning at Atlanta’s Wieuca Road Baptist Church, nearly a month after he was struck by a water craft, during a trip to Lake Lanier.

Raymond, who is the ex-wife of Usher, has been silent about her son’s death but went on Twitter Thursday (July 26) night to reveal her plans for the future, and thank well-wishers.  “I appreciate the hundreds, perhaps thousands of prayers. I’m so grateful to you guys. Kile was the most fun, creative, sweet, respectful boy,” she wrote. “Our goal [is] to increase water safety- thru implementing laws, policies & education. Kiles passing will not be in vain, we will see to this.”

The mother of five also requested that the public make donations to the newly created the Kile Glover Foundation in lieu of sending flowers.

Glover was placed on life support, and never gained consciousness after being hit by family friend Jeffrey. S. Hubbard. An investigation of the freak accident was conducted by the Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources. It will be up to the District Attorney to decide if criminal charges should be brought against Hubbard. The second victim of the incident was a 15-year-old girl who sustained minor injuries. She was taken to the same hospital as Glover, and later released.
