Hip-Hop legends Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, Afrika Bambaataa, Sugar Hill Gang and more will be honored this fall as inductees into the Hip-Hop Hall Of Fame Awards ceremony and concert to take place in New York in November during a televised broadcast. Joining the aforementioned will be Chief Rocker Busy Bee, Funky 4+1, Kurtis Blow and pioneering all-female trio (featuring R&B songstress Angie Stone) The Sequence.
The Hip-Hop Hall Of Fame Awards Show will be televised for the first since its initial showing in the 90s on the BET Network. Currently, the awards have not announced a formal broadcasting partner but are partnering with cable network C-Span, who will air a Hip-Hop history panel discussion. The Hip-Hop Hall Of Fame Museum will also open during the ceremony, culminating in a week-long series of VIP and red carpet events centered on the awards and accompanying all-star concert.
“We are pleased to announce this year’s Hall of Fame inductees, who represent a broad spectrum of legendary DJ’s, artists, groups, producers, dance crews, graffiti artists, and films that define Hip-Hop music & cultural history predating 1985,” said show creator and Executive Producer James “JT” Thompson in a press release.
Joining the other inductees are Treacherous Three, Fearless Four, Whodini, DJs Grandwizard Theodore and Lovebug Starkski and legendary break-dancers The Rock Steady Crew.
