Powerhouse sports network ESPN is known for having hosts and analysts who drop the occasional Hip-Hop reference or two. Over the years and throughout their vast array of programming, rappers have graced the studios with their presence and sports expertise. ESPN's collegiate sports offshoot station “The U” (also known as ESPNU) is taking things one step further by adding DJ and turntablist DJ Rob Swift to a new daily late-night program, UNITE, debuting later this month.

Finding fame with vaunted DJ crew The X-Ecutioners (alongside DJ Total Eclipse and the late Roc Raida), Rob Swift's latest venture finds the turntable wizard joining ESPNU's daily program UNITE. Rob will be mixing and juggling his own tracks using the traditional two turntable method in addition to overlaying tracks between segments. The legendary DJ joins hosts college analyst Danny Kanell, comedian Reese Waters and sports reporter Marianela Pereyra. It appears that ESPN producers did their homework in selecting Rob Swift to come on board.

“We knew music would be a core element for the show and we needed music versatility to branch the spectrum of topics UNITE would cover,” said ESPN music director Kevin Wilson in a press statement. “We've followed Rob's career for some time now, and when we started planning the music direction for UNITE, it didn't take long for his name to come up.

This will be Rob Swift's first television gig, and a quick look at his Twitter page marks the DJ's excitement. Congratulations, Rob Swift!

UNITE makes its debut August 27 at midnight. Watch a preview below.
