Champs Sports is officially in the magazine business, sort of. The athletic apparel and footwear retailer has officially unveiled SWAG (short for Stylish Ways to Acquire Game), a quarterly app-based e-zine aimed at teens and fans that provides insight into the lives of pro players and sports culture in general. The first athlete to grace the “cover” of SWAG is 23 year-old NBA scoring champ and Olympic gold medalist Kevin Durant.

The Fall 2012 debut issue’s guest editor is Levi Maestro of Maestro Knows fame and features interviews with KD, Brandon Jennings, Chiddy Bang, jeweler Gabriel Urist and moe. The app is a interactive multimedia experience, with readers able to purchase featured items instantly and plenty of video content as well. In an interview with Durant (“2 Minute Drill”) the high-scoring forward explained what rappers he would sign to his label.

“If I started a record label today I would sign Drake, I would sign Wale and Rihanna,” said KD. “Drake, just because he has that icon type of status now. Wale, hometown guy on the come up. Just like me a young guy that’s trying to find his way. Rihanna is just…she’s like the new thing for the women side of what she does and she’s doing a phenomenal job.”

You can pick up download a copy of SWAG for free.99 for your iPad or iPhone on iTunes or for your Android device at Google Play. Check out the cover and some more image from SWAG in the gallery below.
