If Rick Ross is the certified “Bawse” of Maybach Music Group, Gunplay would most likely be known as the crew’s crazed madman. The Def Jam signee just released his 601 & Snort mixtape to hold over fans as he prepares his debut album, Medellin. New York-born and Miami-raised, the dreadlocked rapper sat down with The Boombox for an exclusive interview which revealed some interesting tidbits about “Don Logan” including his celebratory drug use, a failed marriage and his entrepreneurial aims of opening an escort service.
“Nah, it’s not corny to me, it’s what I do. It’s a million other mother**kers out here just like me. I represent them, the undesirables. I represent those that do have a habit,” said Gunplay, speaking casually about his use of the drug du jour of the moment, molly, and if it’s become a trend amongst rappers.
Gunplay’s comment on his questionable tattoo choice was interesting as well. “I got the swastika because it was a peaceful symbol, then Hitler turned it into something evil, just how society do. The babies start off innocent and get corrupted due to the system, society,” he elaborated.
For Gunplay, it’s not all drugs and guns apparently as the boisterous rapper has his sights set on opening a high-end escort service at the top of next year. “So with my escort service, I’m changing the name because of some legal issues, but it’s gonna be called H.U.S.H. – Have U Seen Her. It’s trademarked, I already got that. We starting in January. We launching. It’s based outta L.A. We tryna get the best of the best. Exotic b-tches,” said Gunplay.
Spirituality also plays a role in Gunplay’s life as well. “Definitely, I believe in God. He got me through a lotta situations,” shared the rapper. Medellin is slated for release sometime this year.
