Airport security is no joke. Two women in New York were arrested for trying to smuggle drugs in their weaves. The incident occurred Sunday (Sept. 23) when Kiana Howell, and her sidekick, Makeeba Graham made their way to JFK International Airport with two pounds of nose candy hidden in their hair extensions.
The terrible twosome had arrived into the country on a flight from Georgetown, Guyana, and reportedly “appeared as if they were going to faint” while going through the customs line.
Upon being patted down by officials, officers felt a bulge in Howell's head and asked her to remove the hairpiece. Clearly cracking under pressure, she explained that she could not do so because “she had a package sewn into it.”
According to Howell she had no idea what was actually in the package because her boyfriend only told her to bring it to the United State “under her hair weave,” but gave no other details.
Once the weave was removed at a medical facility, a plastic package containing nearly a kilo of cocaine was uncovered.
Graham thought she could get away by refusing to remove her weave since it was sewn into her natural hair, but that excuse didn't work out too well. The weave was removed and authoirites found more than a kilo of powder in her hair.
Both women were arrested and face drug-smuggling charges. Graham was freed on $100,000 bond, while Howell remains in custody and has a court hearing scheduled for today.
