Performing rights society ASCAP will be kicking off their 4th annual Women Behind The Music series tomorrow (Oct. 16), in New York City.

The event honoring top industry women will be held in New York’s Meatpacking district at club, Tenjune. Women Behind The Music was created with the intentions to not only showcase the talents and success of artists and songwriters in the forefront of the music industry, but also the women behind them, such as, attorneys, managers, music publishers, and label executives.

This year’s New York honorees include DJ and BLACK GIRLS ROCK! Inc. founder Beverly Bond, Island/Def Jam Music Group Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs Nicole Wyskoarko, and Universal Music Publishing Senior Vice President and Co-Head of East Coast Operations, Jessica Rivera.

“Each woman we have honored since our inaugural event three years ago is a legend in her own right, and I’m thrilled to continue this amazing series with another round of outstanding and deserving honorees,” ASCAP Vice President of Membership, Rhythm & Soul Nicole George said in a statement to HipHopWired.

Some of the past honorees included: Janelle Monáe, Siedah Garrett, Monica, Kelly Rowland, Melanie Fiona, Sheila E., Kandi Burruss, Goapele, and R&B group Electrik Red.  The opening event in New York will be followed by two more in the same vein in Los Angeles on Oct. 17honoring,  MC Lyte and Ledisi, among others, while T.I.’s wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris will be honored in Atlanta on Oct. 18.
