Jesse Jackson Jr. may be looking to strike a deal with the feds over allegation of misappropriation of official funds for personal use.

The 47-year-old won re-election Tuesday (Nov. 6) and has been keeping a low profile over the last several months, as he receives treatment for bipolar disorder.

A source told the Chicago Sun Times  that the Congressman wants to put the legal issue behind him, sooner than later. “No one has pled guilty, but plea discussions are ongoing,” revealed the source. “This has been an ongoing nightmare for the Jackson family, particularly his wife, Ald. Sandi Jackson, and the Reverend [Jess Jackson Sr.].”

Jackson has been immersed in accusations of wrong-doing since he expressed a desire to claim President Obama’s U.S. Senate seat, left vacant win he was elected in 2008. Gov. Rod Blagojevish was sent to federal prison for attempting to sell the seat, but Jackson has denied involvement in the debacle, and has never been charged in the case.

He is believed to have used campaign funds for everything from decorating his home in Washington D.C. to allegedly buying a $40,000 Rolex watch.

Today, Jackson remains in the Mayo Clinic. After undergoing outpatient treatment he returned to the facility in October.
