Once again,  here is an example of how social networking can be more of a curse than a gift,  and now a poor child will have to walk through life being called Hashtag.

This story wreaks of an Internet scam, but provided that it’s not a terrible joke, the parents of newborn baby Hashtag Jameson can expect lots of backlash for this decision.

The baby’s name was revealed via Facebook even though the term #hashtag was birthed on Twitter after the arrival of the newborn, which occurred on Saturday (Nov. 24). Weighing in at eight  pounds, the overjoyed parental figure proclaimed to “love her so much!!!!!”

Interestingly enough, naming a child Hashtag is the exact opposite if love, but sh-t happens.

There are however two bright notes to this story: 1) Hashtag  has become an Internet sensation and she doesn’t even know it yet. 2) She’s not the only baby to receive a terrible name. A man in Egypt proudly named his son Facebook last year, as an ode to the sit’es role in the country’s revolution which led to the overthrowing of President Hosni Mubarak.

May baby Hashtag and baby Facebook can find solace in one another.
