In commemoration of World AIDS Day Saturday (Dec. 1) Ne-Yo is teaming with Lifebeat, for the Music Fights HIV/AIDS bi-coastal event.
Ne-Yo will hold things down in Los Angeles tomorrow night, hosting the World AIDS Day club night at the Supper Club to raise money for the organization. In New York, dance clubs PachaNYC and Cielo will donate $1 dollar from every paid admission, tonight and Saturday, to Lifebeat.
DJs and tastemakers like Beatport, Billboard, and Traxsource, will encourage fans to make a $5 donation via their cell phones by texting “LIFEBEAT” to 85944.
The nonprofit is aimed at raising awareness, and works in hopes of curbing the statistics revealing that 1 in 4 of all new HIV infections occur among youth ages 13-24.
“Lifebeat recognizes that dance music represents a powerful and inspiring way to reach young people with critical information about HIV/AIDS prevention” said Lifebeat president, Gary Dell'Abate. “We are thrilled to join with the dance community in our fight against HIV/AIDS.”
All of the money raised will go to helping Lifebeat continue to spread the message of safe s-x, and s-x education, as well as allow the organization to provide free condoms, HIV/AIDS prevention information, counseling, and testing to thousands across the country.
