As if a 41-year-old gangsta rapping Snoop wasn't enough in his book of career accomplishments, the Dogg is continuing his feline transformation before all eyes.
Snoop Lion released his second single, “Here Comes The King” featuring Angela Hunte off of his upcoming album, Reincarnated.
The West Coast rapper taps into his Rastafarian side on the Major Lazer-produced track. The cut starts off with Hunte's West Indian-inspired vocals then Snoop Lion comes in with his interpretation of reggae harmonies. Though you may tilt your head in concern upon hearing Snoop as his new persona, “Here Comes The King” does have a fresh and modern vibe while containing a few traditional reggae sounds.
With budding dread locks (?) and a sun-soaked wardrobe, it's safe to say he has dove into his Rasta persona full force. That doesn't mean everyone has to like it but for now the “La La La” reggae rap-singer is reincarnated, and here to stay.
“Anytime the spirit calls you, you gotta know that it's serious and it's real,” Snoop said in an interview. “When the spirit called me, it told me to find something that was connected towards the Bob Marley's spirit. Because I've always said that I was Bob Marley reincarnated.”
Keep your ears open for the release of Reincarnated, and check out his new joint in the meantime.
