George Zimmerman Sues NBC For Making Him Look Like A “Racist Villain” In Edited 911 Call

George Zimmerman is taking legal action against NBC over an edited 911 call that he made the night that he shot Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman filed a lawsuit today against NCB Universal Media LLC and three individuals employed by the company during the time “relevant to the complaint.”

On the call, Zimmerman can be heard describing Martin’s race, but since the entire exchange wasn’t aired he claims that the network made him look “racist” and “predatory.”

According to the site, GZvsNBC.com—which was launched by his legal team—the former neighborhood watch captain feels defamed by the network. He is alleging to have had intentional emotional distress inflicted upon him thanks to the edited recording. “NBC News saw the death of Trayvon Martin not as a tragedy but as an opportunity to increase ratings, and so set about to create the myth that George Zimmerman was a racist and predatory villain,” reads the filing.

The 24-page complaint was filed in Seminole County and demands a trial by jury.

NBC has not yet responded to the suit.

Zimmerman faces second-degree murder charges in the shooting death of 17-year-old Martin. The accused killer maintains that he fired at the unarmed teen in self-defense.
