UPDATE: The shooter was Adam Lanza, not his elder brother Ryan Lanza, and he died of a self-inflicted gun wound. He used two handguns — a Glock and a Sig Sauer — and a .223-caliber assault rifle.

As previously reported, 26 people were murdered at a Newton, Connecticut elementary school today, 18 of those killed were children. Although a second person who was near the school at the time of the shooting was questioned, it appears this was the work of one shooter.

Details are sketchy for now about the gunman but his name is Ryan Adam Lanza and he is in his 20s. He was dressed in all black and allegedly had ties to the Sandy Hook Elementary School and may have been the parent of  a student, but this is unconfirmed. Lanza’s mother was a teacher at the school and he seems to have focused on one classroom.

Today’s incident is one of the worst mass killing in United States history. Newtown is in southwestern Connecticut and about 65 miles from New York City.

Grief counselors are at a nearby by fire station to help student and parents deal with this devastating tragedy. Considering these circumstances, these kids should not be getting interviewed by the media. Our two cents.
