Meek Mill tore it down at Power 106’s annual Cali Christmas concert in Southern California Friday (Dec. 14), clocking another great performance as his year comes to a close. He spoke with Hip-Hop Wired about taking the stage, and showed love to other artists in the game. “It felt good to be in Cali turning it up,” he says.

“Everybody that’s hot doing they thing. Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Kendrick, J. Cole, Tune(chi).”

2012 turned out to be a phenomenal year for Meek, who dropped his Dreamchasers 2 mixtape, a Maybach Music compilation album, and his solo debut Dreams and Nightmares. The album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 album charts, selling 166,000 copies in its first week. As of early December, Dreams and Nightmares has pushed 266,000 copies. “The highlight of my year [was] having an incredible year,” he adds. “The whole year was the highlight.”

Even though he spends the brunt of his time on the road, the 25-year-old is a fan of his rap piers. “We be listening to ‘them b-tches love sosa,”’ he said of Chief Keef’s new record. “Lil Reese’s sh-t, Lil Dirk… Future. We be on that hard sh-t.”

And as for rap’s newest obsession, Trinidad James, Meek rocks with his musical movement as well.

“He spitting that fire right now. He living, he doing his thing. It’s all love, cool homie.”
