Raekwon rapping over a soul sample is just a can’t lose combination. For the latest single from his forthcoming Lost Jewelry EP, “Neither One Of Us,” the Wu-Tang dart throw flows fluid over a Gladys Knight sample.

The title of the Gladys Knight & The Pips ditty is the same as Rae’s and from her 1973 album, also Neither One Of Us. The Chef flips more sinister street tales over the instrumentals somber strings and melancholy chords. “Got older got bolder, stair case days, 40 ounces, big bags to blaze, wearing capes,” lyrically reminisces the “Ice Cream” rapper. “Bagging for hours, cooking up wolves with Power, hooking up those devour, weak ni–as foul up, no follow up, then the connect came, we swallowed up.”

Hmm, why haven’t Rae and Roc Marciano made a record yet?

Neverethless, with  “Never Can Say Goodbye,”  “86” and that “Who Shot Ya? Freestyle” 2013 is looking to contain some fine product from the Shaolin veteran. The Lost Jewelry EP will be out in early 2013. Listen to, and download, “Neither One Of Us” below.
