The Hot 97 "5 Borough Takeover Tour" kicked off last night at the Roseland Ballroom with a double featured performance from Kendrick Lamar and friends.
The rapper returned to New York City for the first time since dropping his wildly successful debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d. city, and he didn't come alone. Performing two shows in one night, K.Dot held his own for most of the night by commanding both shows mostly by himself.
However, for fan favorite records he leaned on the help of his Black Hippy brothers, Jay Rock, Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul. While that came as no surprise during the first show, the second show brought out the likes of A$AP Rocky to perform the hit single "F**king Problems" as well as 50 Cent and Tony Yayo for his latest, "We Up."
Lamar also performed plenty of his old material from his independent albums Overly Dedicated and Section .80. Along with Metro PCS, Hot 97's Five Borough Takeover Tour will continue on March 4th as French Montana will perform at a secret location followed by a performance from T.I. on Mach 7th at the Best Buy Theater.
