Ahmad “Real” Givens is battling stage four colon cancer. Givens, starred on the VH1 reality show Real Chance of Love, alongside his brother, Kamal “Chance” Givens.

TMZ reports that Givens is receiving treatment at Cedars-Sinai –the same hospital where Lil Wayne was taken after suffering several seizures, last week.

Givens got sick at the top of the year, believing that he had the flu. He went to the hospital four times, first being told he had a problem with his liver. However, last week, doctors revealed the stage four colon cancer diagnosis, which typically means that the disease has spread to other parts of the body.

The 33-year-old remains hospitalized until it is decided if he should receive chemotherapy, radiation, or both.

Doctors are expected to make a decision on treatment options today,

According to Cancer.org colon cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths, and the third most common cancer diagnosis for men and women, in the United States.  The American Cancer Society estimates that there are 102, 480 new cases of colon cancer.

While colon cancer is expected to take more than 50,000 lives this year alone, the death rate has dropped over the last 20 years, due in part to early detection of polyps (abnormal growth tissue), which can be removed before they turn into cancer.
