Comedian and actor Tracy Morgan tickled funny bones for years as a longstanding cast member on NBC’s late night sketch comedy show, Saturday Night Live and the recently ended 30 Rock. Today (April 17), the New York native landed another great gig after it was announced Morgan will host the 2013 Billboard Music Awards this May.

The event will air live from Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden arena. Vegas will be swarming with celebrities in town for the awards ceremony, including previously announced guests such as R&B crooner Miguel, pop stars Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift, and singer Bruno Mars.

The awards show’s big score, however, was the announcement that the iconic Prince will also be in the building. Morgan, a huge fan of the Minneapolis native, was gracious for the opportunity and excited about seeing the Purple One as well.

“I’m honored to be a part of one of music’s biggest nights,” said Tracy Morgan via a press release from ABC. “When you look at the artists who have come up through Billboard over the years, it’s incredible. And how can you say no when Prince is going to be there!”

This year’s nominees have not been announced, but it is expected that the lists will hit news outlets fairly soon.

For fans who want to see the festivities up close, tickets are for sale and information can be found by visiting Billboard’s website  or the MGM Grand website.

The 2013 Billboard Music Awards airs Sunday, May 19 at 8:00 p.m. ET on the ABC network.
