For some odd reason, Detroit has remained an unsung city when discussing who’s made relevant contributions to Hip-Hop. Contrary to popular belief, Motown’s talents extend past that of Eminem and Big Sean. Producer/rapper Black Milk has been toting the flag for years in the D, and returns today with an instrumental album titled Synth Or Soul.
This is the first installment of his visual art and sound series Fuzz, Freqs & Colors (FFC), a collaborative project with artist Upendo “Pen” Taylor. The D-town native shows that he’s criminally underrated yet again with 12 futuristic, yet groovy beats that are sure to get your feet tapping and head moving.
Remember that Black Milk already set the bar high with “Sunday’s Best/Monday’s Worst,” a two-part tale that details the fate of a man who opted to be more of a sinner than a saint. Synth Or Soul is available for purchase April 23, but fans can preorder it now on iTunes.
