Mannie Fresh Says He Wants What He Deserves From YMCMB [VIDEO]
The Internets went from elated to confused after Birdman announced that founding member Mannie Fresh was ostracized from the new Big Tymers album, which will feature Drake and Lil Wayne instead. Yesterday, Sway allowed the celebrated New Orleans producer to speak his peace on MTV RapFix.
“Honestly I think Drake is a great artist, I think Wayne is a great artist, but they not the Big Tymers,” said Fresh. “It’s kinda like doing a Jackson 5 album with Boyz II Men. Two different eras, great artists, but Boyz II Men is not the Jackson 5.”
Fresh claims to have no beef with his former Cash Money cohorts or their decision not to include him on the project, but that bad business practices in the past spoiled any chance of collaborating. “I’m too old to be making diss songs. I’m too wise to be taking shots at anybody,” says the “Go DJ” beatsmith. In the same breath he explained, “I’m just striving on just getting what I deserve.”
Fortunately, fans will see some output from Fresh via a collaborative project with Mos Def titled OMFGOD. As far as the Big Tymers go, Fresh said it best: “you can call it whatever you want to call it, but you can’t call it a Big Tymers album.”
