Anthony Weiner is not only looking towards redemption, political vindication is also on the menu. The former Congressman’s career was soiled thanks to a s-xting scandal two years ago, but he’s hoping that running for mayor of New York will allot him a second chance at making a first impression.

Weiner announced his mayoral bid via an overnight YouTube post. The 48-year-old appears alongside wife, Huma Abedin, and their young son. “Everyday starts right here, and it’s the best part of my day,” he says showing footage of feeding the baby. From there, Weiner attempts to re-arrange his image and appears as an average family man.

“New York’s like no other place,” the Brooklyn native proclaims showing a montage of his childhood, and mentioning his parents’ “classic New York” story of working their way up to a middle-class standing. “That’s how this city was built, but it’s getting harder and harder everyday.”

From the sounds of it, the campaign will be aimed at middle-class voters, with Wiener citing skyrocketing rent, health benefits, and education as some of the issues he will tackle– if elected.

Near the end of the ad, the former U.S. Representative addresses the pink elephant in the room: “Look, I made some big mistakes, and I know I let a lot people down, but I’ve also learned from those lessons. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class, and those struggling to make it, my entire life and I hope I get a second chance.”

Weiner has over 60 ideas as to how New York City can be improved, all of which are available via his “Keys to the City” website.

In 2011 Weiner was busted sending photos of his crotch to women on Twitter. He initially claimed to be hacked, but later fessed up, and resigned from Congress. Abedin, a longtime aide to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, forgave her better half.

The couple welcomed their first child last year.
