Pimp C's Mother "Mama Wes" Laid To Rest [VIDEO]
The late Pimp C's mother, Weslyn Monroe, 66, succumbed to breast cancer last Sunday, August 18. Affectionately known as "Mama Wes," she was laid to rest on Friday, August 23, with Bun B delivering the eulogy.
Reports Revolt News:
Through the years, Monroe served as general manager for her son and was essentially the ‘backbone of UGK,' as Pimp's partner-in-rhyme Bun B described in a recent Instagram message. A funeral service was held for her earlier today (August 23) at Hannah Funeral Home in Port Arthur, Texas where Bun B, Trae Tha Truth, Webbie and the whole Trill Entertainment family were in attendance.
“She was one of [those] people that was a stone person in the community and was really behind Bun and Pimp no matter what,” said one of the attendees. Everyone who attended was said to have been “real broken up” at the service, including a teary Bun B, who delivered the eulogy.
Earlier this week, he issued a compelling statement that touched on the magnitude of her death and the impact she made on his life. “[Mama West] was a great woman. Nurture us from boys to men and made us strong enough to handle this industry. She was the one that kept us going when we didn't wanna go anymore. She was the backbone of UGK, the definition of loyalty, the personification of unconditional love and the essence of what being Trill really meant. She's finally reunited with her son. God bless you both. RIP Mama Wes. You gave everything to make us Underground Kings.”
