Project after project, Queens MC Homeboy Sandman proves that he’s one of the illest emceeing. But let him tell it, he’s more than a rapper; he’s a “Musician.”

That’s his claim on track two from his All That I Hold Dear EP, which was produced entirely by Dallas native M. Slago. Sandman fills in the blank on a vocal sample that chants “I want to be…” with “a musician. But y’all don’t listen.”

In two verses, the Stones Throw artist expresses a disdain for confines of music. Lines like “Top level of dope art/Black Thought, Ray Charles, Miles [Davis], and Mozart,” reaffirm the MC’s hope that all genres will be accepted and respected across the board.

“Musician” is one of seven songs that appear on All That I Hold Dear. The project is currently available for purchase here. Stream the song below and give us your thoughts in the comments.
