Sean Kingston laid dormant for a while after a near death experience in 2011 caused by a Jet Ski accident. But tomorrow, the crossover pop star makes a return to music with a comeback album appropriately titled Back 2 Life.

We had an opportunity to briefly speak with Kingston about his forthcoming project and the reason for his hiatus during this year’s BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards. “There’s a reason why I haven’t put out a lot of music in a long time,” said the Florida native. “And I know [that] once I put out something, I want it to be that record everybody loves it.”

With singles like the Wale-assisted “Seasonal Love” and “Shotta Luv,” featuring 2 Chainz serving as follow ups to his hit “Beat It,” the 23-year-old is very confident in what he’s created. Hear what Sean Kingston had to say below.
