Renowned and respected Detroit rapper/producer Black Milk drops “Dismal,” the latest single from his forthcoming No Poison No Paradise album.
Black Milk weaves a tale over a sparse but funky instrumental. No Poison No Paradise is a concept album that follows the fate of “Sonny Jr.”
“I wanted each song to represent a different stage of Sonny’s life. On ‘Dismal,’ he’s battling with himself to regain his position at the top,” said Black Milk in a press statement. “It was enjoyable to create a song where i jump back and forth between the character’s voice and that of his conscience.”
You’d be hard pressed to find an artist as consistent, or underrated as Black Milk. No Poison No Paradise is out October 15 via Fat Beats/Computer Ugly. Listen to “Dismal” below.
