Twenty-four hours after releasing his solo debut, My Name Is My Name, Pusha T visited The Breakfast club to discuss his new album, how he and Kanye West were against creating radio singles, the root of his beef with Lil Wayne, and more.
“You weren’t allowed to use that kind of terminology in the studio,” the Veteran MC said on making songs geared for national airplay. “When I was making this album, I went from the years of 1994 to 99. So I picked all my favorite records within that time frame, and all my favorite albums, and the just started making music that made me feel like that.”
Pusha said that he intentionally avoided the smoother, easy listening sound that other rappers create.
